Golden Milk

This is one of those things that you’ll never find in the grocery store or cafe that tastes as good as when you make it yourself at home. Golden milk can be drank hot or cold, I definitely prefer hot because it’s soothing to the nervous system. Ginger and turmeric have trusted anti-inflammatory properties and are high in vitamin C, they’ve been trusted for centuries to aid acute sickness and support the immune system.

This recipe is uncomplicated, requires 3-5 ingredients, and is easily modified.

Tip: when choosing nut butters, look for single-ingredient jars. Read the ingredient lists to check for added sugars, palm oils, etc. - there are lots of affordable options that’s only ingredient is the nut.

Ingredients:

3in. of fresh ginger or 1 large knob

3in. of fresh turmeric or 1 large knob

1 tablespoon of nut butter (almond, peanut, hazelnut…)

optional: 2 dates, cinnamon, allspice, pinch of salt

Directions:

Bring 2 cups of water to boil

Roughly chop turmeric & ginger, add to your blender along with the almond butter.

Add boiled water.

Blend for 1 minute or until you see a visibly smooth consistency.

Strain with a nut milk bag or a fine mesh strainer.

Enjoy
